Day Nineteen: Weight Loss God’s Way

DAY NINETEEN: WEIGHT LOSS GOD’S WAY

Let’s talk food again today. It’s one of our favorite subjects in modern-day America. It’s everywhere. Food is highly accessible for us and abundantly available. Yet we still have homeless and hungry people in America. Weird, huh? What’s that about?

It’s not about food, it’s about the heart.

I can’t comment on America – but I can comment on South Africa. Did you know that South Africa is listed as one of the fattest third world countries? Think about that for just a minute. Poor, impoverished people – who have very little money, clothing or housing – are considered to be one of the fattest nations in the world. Now that is scary. Firstly, I think it is because fast food, unhealthy food, and breads are cheap. They are easily affordable by most people. But, also, I think our (I say our, because this so refers to me as well) priorities are skewed. It is seen as a status symbol to buy KFC or McDonald’s. And its convenient. South Africa doesn’t really have healthy fast food alternatives…

Day Eighteen: Weight Loss God’s Way

DAY EIGHTEEN: WEIGHT LOSS GOD’S WAY

He trains my hands for battle; my arms can bend a bow of bronze. 2 Samuel 22:35

Today’s training is devoted totally to the “get to” of strength training. Some of you celebrated and some of you thought, “Ughhh!” I hear you. To be honest, I‘m kind of with you “Ughhh”-ers. I would much rather get my lungs filled with lots of air in cardiovascular training than my muscles filled with the lactic acid burn that comes with strength training. BUT we need both for total heath.

Day Sixteen: Weight Loss God’s Way

DAY SIXTEEN: WEIGHT LOSS GOD’S WAY

Better is one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere; I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of the wicked. Psalm 84:10

Today’s Workout Of The Day (WOD) is for everyone! Good news! It’s only seven minutes long!

Our lives are comprised of a series of choices. Choose quality over quantity every day. Specifically, when it comes to your wellness, choose quality when it comes to the following three things:

Day Fourteen: Weight Loss God’s Way

DAY FOURTEEN: WEIGHT LOSS GOD’S WAY

“That is what the Scriptures mean when they say, “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him.” 1 Corinthians 2:9

This verse has always excited me – it is filled with such promise and such hope, and such love from God to us, if only we would (could) trust the process, trust him. Guess that’s why my word for 2015 is trust.

We can’t trust what we see. We can’t trust what we hear. We can’t even trust our own thoughts. It’s not like God is playing a trick on us or something. In fact, it’s his way of helping us take a load off.

DAY THIRTEEN: WEIGHT LOSS GOD’S WAY

DAY THIRTEEN: WEIGHT LOSS GOD’S WAY

We have been training together for almost two weeks! How are you doing? You have gone to work with God in setting up a new foundation in which to build this time. And to think…we barely even talked about physical exercise or food. Great job! I know you are probably anxious about some things, but remember…you said you would trust the process. Thank you for staying true to your promise.

Let’s review your part so far:

You stepped on the scale (maybe) one last time, and you have not weighed yourself since.

Day Twelve: Weight Loss God’s Way

Day Twelve: Weight Loss God’s Way

I love to hear from my kids. I love to hear them tell me about their days. I love to hear them tell me what they have learned or a funny story that went down that day. I even love hearing their fears so together we can get after God’s truth that overcomes their fears. But I admit…I don’t love hearing from them when they are arguing, complaining, or whining about something. And more often than not it’s about something pretty darn insignificant.

Day Eleven: Weight Loss God’s Way

DAY ELEVEN: WEIGHT LOSS GOD’S WAY

Calories in. Calories out. Ugh…if I have to hear that one more time in my life it will be too many. Yes, it’s true. If you want to lose weight, consume fewer calories daily and spend more. If you want to maintain a healthy weight, spend as many calories daily as you consume. Yadda…yadda…yadda.
