The Apostle’s Creed
I believe in God,
The Father almighty,
Creator of heaven and earth,
And in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord,
Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit?
Born of the Virgin Mary,
Suffered under Pontius Pilate,
Was crucified, died and was buried;
He descended into hell;
On the third day he rose again from the dead;
He ascended into heaven,
And is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty;
From there he will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
The holy Catholic Church,
The communion of saints,
The forgiveness of sins,
The resurrection of the body,
And life everlasting. Amen.
I have been a Christian since I was about 13 years old, although, I think sometimes that I have always just been a Christian. So, what is it that I believe exactly? Well, the Apostle’s Creed above pretty much explains exactly what I believe, but to go in more detail – keep reading.
About God
God is the creator of Heaven and earth. He is divine, all knowing, always present and all-powerful. He expresses Himself to us through three means: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. These three are equal and one and yet three and distinct. It one of the miracles of who God is. And I believe that God loves us so much more than we can ever imagine or believe. In fact, I believe that we should be surprised when we arrive in Heaven one day and see many people there that we did not think would make it, and don’t be surprised when you yourself make it to Heaven. I think that God only wants our good in mind and will do whatever He can in a world where free will exists to bring that about – that is how much He loves us.
About Jesus Christ
I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He is equal with God. I believe that Jesus lived a sinless human life and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice so that we can all get to Heaven. I believe that he rose from the dead after three days do show us that He has conquered sin and death.
About The Holy Spirit
I believe that Holy Spirit works very closely with that inner voice – you know, the one that says stealing R 5000 from work is wrong, don’t do it. I believe that the Holy Spirit provides all Christians with the power for living and understanding what God wants, and what is right, guides, and assists us in living out a life that is abundant in nature – the only thing that holds us back from achieving that is ourselves.
About The Bible
The Bible is God’s word to us. It was written by human authors, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is the supreme source of truth for Christian beliefs and living. Because it is inspired by God, it is truth without any mixture of error.
About People
I think that God just loves us and wants what is best for us and wants to make sure we enjoy a safe eternity in Heaven It is we who are stubborn to always want to do our own things our own way.
About Salvation
Salvation is God’s gift to us, but we must accept it. There is nothing we can do to be saved; only faith in Jesus as God’s son will do. But, I do believe that a many more will be saved that we can ever imagine because of God’s divine grace and wisdom, and understanding of human frailty. It is not for us to question – it is just for us to believe.
