Gratitude Mondays

Every Monday, I like to focus on gratitude.  It is hard to continually come up with new and exciting things to be grateful for.  You have to really look…  And that is the key, I believe.  It is in the looking that you change your mind and start thinking new thoughts.  And it isn’t always easy to find new things to be grateful for, or to be grateful in a new and exciting way for old things.

Don MoenGive Thanks Lyrics

Give thanks with a grateful heart
Give thanks to the Holy One
Give thanks because He’s given Jesus Christ, His Son

Give thanks with a grateful heart
Give thanks to the Holy One
Give thanks because He’s given Jesus Christ, His Son

And now let the weak say, “I am strong”
Let the poor say, “I am rich
Because of what the Lord has done for us”

And now let the weak say, “I am strong”
Let the poor say, “I am rich
Because of what the Lord has done for us”

Give thanks with a grateful heart
Give thanks to the Holy One
Give thanks because He’s given Jesus Christ, His Son

Give thanks with a grateful heart
Give thanks to the Holy One
Give thanks because He’s given Jesus Christ, His Son

And now let the weak say, “I am strong”
Let the poor say, “I am rich
Because of what the Lord has done for us”

And now let the weak say, “I am strong”
Let the poor say, “I am rich
Because of what the Lord has done for us”
Give thanks

We give thanks to You oh Lord
We give thanks

And that is why gratitude is from the heart.  It needs to be a heart-felt emotion – and a head thought up idea.  We used our heads to see what to be grateful for, but we use our hearts to feel the gratitude.
I don’t feel particularly grateful today – I am hungry, trying to diet and I go into the sugar lows that seems to know no bounds.  It also makes me feel quite anxious, but this I do know and for this I am grateful: God is on my side.  He delights over me with rejoicing and dancing; there is no condemnation for those in Christ Jesus; He blesses us with an everlasting love; I am going to Heaven.  So, even in my “not-quite-feeling-the-best” moods, I am grateful that I can lean on God, and know that He is carrying me through.
I have lots to be grateful today – but I am especially grateful for my God, His love, His care and His sacrifice that has brought me safe thus far…  Amazing Grade.
